Feminist Abolition & the Harms of Criminalisation

As part of International Womens Week, Alliance for Choice have teamed up with Reclaim the Agenda to host a panel discussion: Feminist Abolition & the harms of criminalisation, which will launch the brand new Abolitionist reading sessions in Belfast.This panel will explore the harms perpetrated by criminal justice responses to social issues & the intersection of gender & criminalisation.

Panelists will include;

Mo Mansfield - Abolitionist Futures - Introducing Abolition, why Belfast?

Elio Beale - Bent Bars & SWARM - what organising looks like for Abolitionist groups and how to do prison solidarity & inclusion with LGBTQ communities

Lou McGowan - End Deportations Belfast - on their organising around the hostile environment and Larne House

Emma Campbell - Alliance for Choice Belfast - interacting with law and demonstration of women/trans distrust of police powers

Addy Berry - SWAI - the harms created by not decriminalising sex work fully, and who ends up being targeted by police

This IWD event will also launch the Belfast Abolitionist Futures reading group which will begin in March.
