International Women’s Day 2025

Our theme this year is ‘Solidarity Beyond Borders - Women for World Peace’. This is a demand to end violence both globally and at home and a call for solidarity in the face of wars across the globe as well as the violence women and girls face here in Northern Ireland

Events will run throughout March 2025, with the International Women’s Day march and rally on 8th March.

At the rally expect to find cross-community and intersectional feminist groups, LGBTQIA+ groups, Community allies, and Trade Unions coming together to support gender equality. Expect to feel deep solidarity, a sense of community and belonging and a lot of energy to make change happen. We’ll also have samba drumming, and chanting.

Sipho Sibanda will host the Rally at City hall where we will hear from -
Sonita Alizadeh - Women’s Rights activist and rapper from Afghanistan
Sophie Nelson- Senior Policy Development Officer HereNI
Dawn Hopper - Chair of See Change Belfast and volunteer facilitator with Women’s Aid ABCLN
Amina Moustafa, the Women’s Leadership Programme Manager at the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation
Brenda Gough – co-founder of the Three Sisters Gardening Group
Cori Strain - representative of Youth Action
