Ending violence against women and girls: What works?

Violence against women and girls is so commonplace as to be normalised, in NI and across Europe. The EU has a new Directive on violence against women and girls, and in Northern Ireland, the first Ending Violence against Women and Girls strategy aims to take joint action across sectors to turn these trends. This webinar will hear from experts in the sector on priorities to secure meaningful change, and will also explore how the EU Directive has been received across member states.

Join us to share perspectives on what we can learn from each other, and how to prioritise ending violence against women and girls!

Ending violence against women and girls: Learning from Europe

Violence against women and girls is an urgent priority across the world. In Northern Ireland, the first Ending Violence against Women and Girls strategy focuses on changing cultural norms, as well as protecting women and girls more effectively. The EU earlier this year launched a new Directive on violence against women and girls, which sets minimum standards for all 27 EU member states. This webinar will hear from the WAVE Network on how the Directive can change policy, and from Women’s Aid Federation NI on what the priorities for the new strategy are. There will also be discussion on what we can learn from the processes that led to these new frameworks.

Join us to share perspectives on what we can learn from each other, and how to prioritise ending violence against women and girls

Immigration Options for Victims of Domestic Abuse

As part of the #16Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women and Girls, BME Women’s Network are pleased to host this event about immigration options for victims of domestic abuse with Migration Justice Project!

Register: https://forms.gle/ebwFq51bjfgGdLw67

Domestic abuse can create particular difficulties for migrants who are dependent on their partner's visa. Thankfully, immigration law contains some options for migrant victims and survivors to secure status in their own right. Join Law Centre NI legal officers to learn about potential legal solutions.

This event is free, and we encourage all to attend so that we are informed.
